The Hon. Shlomo S. Hagler is a Justice of the New York County Supreme Court, Civil Term in the First Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the Supreme Court bench in 2013.
His judicial career began in 1999 when he was first appointed to the New York City Housing Court by the Hon. Jonathan Lippman, former Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York. Then, in 2004, Justice Hagler was elected to serve as a judge for the New York County Civil Court, a position he held until being appointed to serve as an Acting Justice of the New York County Supreme Court in 2008 by the Hon. Ann Pfau, who was serving as the Chief Administrative Judge at that time. Justice Hagler remained in that position until his election to the same court in 2013.
He is a registered Democrat.
Justice Hagler received his B.A. from Yeshiva University in 1988. He went on to earn his J.D. from the City University of New York School of Law in 1991.
After graduating from law school, Hagler began his legal career in private practice. He joined the law firm Bartlett, Bartlett, and Ziegler, P.C., where practiced as an associate from 1992 until 1995.
It was at that time, Hagler joined the New York State Unified Court System, where he served as a court attorney for the Hon. Martin Shulman, an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court and judge of the Civil Court.
Justice Hagler has been a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the Jewish Lawyers Guild.
His committee memberships have included the Association of the Bar of the City of New York’s Housing Court Committee and the New York County Lawyers Association’s Civil Court Practice Committee.
