Judge Sherri L. Eisenpress - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Sherri L. Eisenpress is a judge for the Rockland County Family Court in the Ninth Judicial District of New York. She was elected to the Family Court bench in 2012. During her tenure on the bench, Judge Eisenpress was also appointed to serve as an Acting Justice of the Rockland County Supreme Court in 2014 by the Hon. A. Gail Prudenti, former Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York.

She is a registered Democrat.

Judge Eisenpress graduated with her B.A. in political science and philosophy from New York University in 1984. She went on to earn her J.D. from New York Law School in 1989.

After graduating from law school, Eisenpress practiced briefly as an associate at the law firm Mudge, Rose, Guthrie, Alexander, and Ferdon before then becoming a law clerk to the Hon. Warren W. Eginton with the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut in 1990.

The following year, Eisenpress then joined Kaye, Scholer, Fierman, Hays, and Handler, where she practiced complex commercial, intellectual property, and product liability litigation as an associate for the next two years. Then, in 1993, she joined Reiss, Eisenpress, and Sheppe LLP, where she worked as an associate until becoming a named partner in 1997. She continued to practice in that capacity until her election to the Family Court.

She also taught negotiating, counseling, interviewing and deposition as an adjunct professor at New York Law School.

Judge Eisenpress is the founding member of the Explore Charter School, where she has also served as vice-chair and a member of the Board. She has also served as a board member of the Legal Counsel, the New York Youth at Risk, the LGBT Community Center, and the Explore Schools Inc.

Her other memberships have included the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Rockland County Women’s Bar Association, the Rockland County Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association.
