The Hon. Shauna L. Chastain is a judge for the Solano County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Garry T. Ichikawa (Ret.).
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Chastain graduated with her B.A. in English from Santa Clara University in 1991. She went on to earn her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1996.
She began her legal career working as an associate at the Law Offices of Lynne Yates-Carter from 1996 to 1998 and at the Mattice Law Offices from 1998 to 2007. She then entered into solo practice, where she would remain until her appointment to the Superior Court in 2018. During her time in private practice, Chastain specialized in arbitration, mediation, and elder and family law.
Chastain is a certified family law specialist by the California State Bar.
While on the bench, Judge Chastain has presided over the Family Law Court, the Adoptions Court, and probate conservatorship cases.
Her memberships have included the State Bar of California's Family Law Executive Committee, the Solano County Bar Association, and past-president of the Solano County Women Lawyers Association.
