The Hon. Shannon Metz Phillips is a master-in-equity for the Spartanburg County Equity Court in South Carolina. She was appointed to the bench in June 2021.
Prior to her appointment, Phillips worked in private practice. During that time, she was associated with the Talley Law Firm in Spartanburg (2013 to 2021); Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. in Greenville (2011 to 2013); and Locke, Lord, Bissell & Liddell, LLP in Dallas, Texas (2008 to 2011).
Phillips received a bachelor’s degree in English literature and political science from the University of Tennessee. She then completed a J.D. at Vanderbilt Law School in 2008. Phillips sat on the Vanderbilt Law Review.
She was admitted to practice in Texas (2008); South Carolina (2013); the United States District Court for the Eastern, Northern, Southern, and Western Districts of Texas (2010); and the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina.
Phillips was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She is a married mother of three children.
