Judge Scott C. Dupont: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Scott C. DuPont (Ret.) served as a judge for the 7th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. DuPont was elected to the bench in 2010 and re-elected in 2016. He was removed from office on June 25, 2018.

The 7th Judicial Circuit encompasses Flagler County, Putnam County, St. Johns County, and Volusia County. DuPont held assignments in Flagler and Putnam Counties.

Prior to his election, DuPont worked as a sole practitioner in his own private practice for four years. Before that, he spent two years as an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the Seventh Judicial Circuit.

DuPont earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and biblical studies from Dallas Baptist University and a master’s degree in public policy from Regent University. He then completed his J.D. at Regent University School of Law in 2004.

His memberships have included the Volusia County Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the American Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.

In February 2018, DuPont was removed from all courthouse assignments. The Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission (JQC) recommended his removal after finding him guilty of several violations of the code of judicial conduct, including election violations. The Florida Supreme Court agreed with the JQC, concluding that he had manufactured false information about his 2016 campaign opponent. He was formally removed from the bench in June, and the Florida Bar suspended his license with conditions in 2019.
