The Hon. Sarah H. Heckman is a judge for the Sutter County Superior Court in California. She was elected to the bench in 2012. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. H. Ted Hansen (Ret.). At the time, she held the distinction of being the first judge to be elected in Sutter County in over twenty-five years.
Judge Heckman received her bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1999.
Her legal career outside of the bench included serving as a sole practitioner in private practice, an attorney for the Sutter County Department of Child Support Services, and a Sutter County deputy district attorney. Prior to her election to the bench, Heckman had served as a family law facilitator and managing attorney for the Sutter County Superior Court's Family Law Center and Self-Help Services since 2002.
