The Honorable Ronald Lawrence Bauer

The Hon. Ronald L. Bauer is a judge for the Superior Court of Orange County in California. He was appointed by former governor George Deukmejian on December 31, 1990, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Manuel A. Ramirez.

Bauer attended Harvard University, where he received a B.A. in mathematics in 1962. He then earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia in 1965. He spent the following year studying comparative constitutional law at the University of Edinburgh, where he completed an LL.B. in 1966.

Bauer began his legal career in 1967. He first worked as an associate with Kindel & Anderson until 1972. He spent the next two years serving as General Counsel for the Western Center on Law and Poverty, advising neighborhood legal aid programs and acting as counsel in class actions. He then joined Hilliard, McGuire & Bauer as a partner, where he represented small businesses in landlord-tenant, real estate, and business matters. In 1984 he became commissioner for the Superior Court of Orange County, a position he held until his appointment to the bench in 1990.

After graduating from the University of Virginia, Bauer briefly served as a VISTA volunteer in New York, New York.

He has also served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and an investigative referee for the disciplinary review program of the California Bar.

Bauer was born in 1941 in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
