Biography

The Hon. Ronald I. Toff is a judge for the Superior Court of Santa Clara County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2009, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Paul C. Cole.

Toff earned a B.A. from Pacific Lutheran University in 1970. He then completed a J.D. from the University of San Francisco, School of Law in 1973.

He began his legal career as an attorney in the Law Office of Melville Toff in 1973. Three years later, he started working as a partner, first at Toff, Toff & Newton, then at Toff, Toff, Newton & Moore, and finally at Moore & Toff. Then, in 1982, he transitioned into the role of president, first for the Law Offices of Ronald I. Toff and then for Toff & Paul.

Toff was born in Hollister, California. He was raised in Santa Clara County by a family of lawyers.

He is registered as a Republican.
