The Hon. Robert C. Fracchia is a judge for the Solano County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2008. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Micael E. Nail (Ret.).
Judge Fracchia graduated summa cum laude with his B.A. in social ecology with an emphasis on criminal justice from the University of California, Irvine in 1976. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 1979.
Fracchia began his legal career as a deputy public defender with the Solano County Public Defender's Office in 1979.
The next year, Fracchia would leave the public sector to practice at the Law Office of Ichiwaka and Fracchia from 1980 to 1983 and for one year at Diepenbrock, Wulff, Plant, and Hannegan.
He rejoined the Solano County Public Defender's Office in 1984, where he served four years as a deputy before returning to private practice.
Fracchia then practiced as a partner at Dobbins, Weir, Thompson, and Stevenson from 1988 until 1997, when he branched out on his own to become a sole practitioner at his own law firm. During his time in solo practice, Fracchia specialized in criminal law and civil litigation and also handled personal injury matters. During that time, he served as an appointed mediator and arbitrator for the Superior Court.
Fracchia was also a California administrative law judge in the Office of Administrative Hearings, he served as a judge pro tem for the Solano Municipal Court and a juvenile court referee for the Superior Court.
In 2005, Fracchia was appointed to serve as a court commissioner for the Solano County Superior Court, a position he held until his appointment to the bench in 2008.
During his time on the bench, Judge Fracchia served as the Presiding Judge of the Court from 2015 to 2018. He has also served as the Presiding Juvenile Judge for the Juvenile Division and has presided over The Fairfield Adult Drug Court program.
His memberships have included the Solano County Bar Association, the State Bar of California, the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, and the University of California, Davis School of Law Alumni Association.
Fracchia taught trial practice as an adjunct professor at the University of California, Davis School of Law.
