Biography

Robert Bare (Ret.) was a judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada. He was elected to the bench in 2011 and retained in 2014. Bare lost his bid for re-election in 2020.


He received a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1985. He went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School in 1988.


After law school, Bare enlisted in the U.S. Army JAG Corps, where he was stationed at Fort Ord in California. He completed his JAG service in 1993.


At that time, Bare relocated to Nevada, where he accepted a position as assistant bar counsel with the State Bar of Nevada. He was quickly promoted to bar counsel.


Bare briefly served as a municipal court judge with the Las Vegas Municipal Court for six months, until returning to his position as bar counsel. He remained with the State Bar until his election to the bench.


Bare, who was adopted, was raised in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania.
