The Hon. Richard V. Peel is a judge for the Superior Court of San Bernardino County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2010, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Barry L. Plotkin.
Peel earned a B.A. in business economics from the University of California, Riverside in 1991. He then completed a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1994. While at Georgetown University Law Center, Peel was a judicial extern at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.
He began his legal career in 1995. He first joined Manning, Leaver, Bruder & Berberich as an associate. He practiced there for one year, quickly moving to the law firm of Howard, Moss, Loveder, Strickroth & Walker.
Then, in 1996, he left the public sector. He accepted a position as a deputy district attorney in the Office of the District Attorney of San Bernardino County, where he worked from 1996 to 2010.

He is registered as a Republican.
