Biography

The Hon. Richard P. Figone (deceased) served as a judge for the Superior Court of San Francisco County in California. He was initially appointed to the Municipal Court of San Francisco by former governor Ronald Reagan in 1974. He was then elevated to the Superior Court of San Francisco County after winning an open seat in 1980. He retired from the bench in November 1996.

Figone earned an A.B. from Stanford University in 1956. He then received a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1961.

Figone began his legal career as a probate attorney in private practice.

During his tenure on the bench, he presided over the first asbestos and Dalkon Shield product liability trials.

He served as president of the Italian Federation of California. He was also named Trial Judge of the Year by the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association in 1993.

Figone was registered as a Republican.
