Judge Richard M. Healy - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Richard M. Healy is a judge for the Wayne County Court in the Seventh Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the County Court bench in 2017. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Dennis Kehoe (Ret.) who reached the state’s mandatory retirement age.

He is a registered Republican.

Judge Healy received his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Oswego. He went on to earn his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in 1980.

Healy joined the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office in 1983, where he worked as an assistant district attorney prosecuting cases involving child abuse and domestic violence. Then, in 1991, after serving eight years in that capacity, Healy was elected to serve as the District Attorney in Wayne County. He served as the county’s top prosecutor for twenty-five years.
