The Hon. Richard H. DuBois is a judge for the Superior Court of San Mateo County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2012, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Rosemary Pfeiffer.
DuBois earned a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1972. He then completed a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1975.
He began his legal career as an associate in the Law Offices of George P. Eshoo in 1975. Five years later, he became a partner at Nudelman and DuBois. He practiced there until 1983, eventually leaving to work as a partner at DuBois and Kelly. During his tenure with these three firms, he handled personal injury, civil, family law, probate and trust administration matters.
Then, in 2002, he was appointed to the Superior Court of San Mateo County, where he served as a family law commissioner until his appointment to the bench.
DuBois was born in Norfolk, Virginia. He was a resident of Woodside at the time of his appointment.
He is registered as a Democrat.
