The Hon. Richard Bruce Boyer is a judge of the 22nd District Court of Comal County. He was elected to the bench seat in 2012 and re-elected in 2016.
Before pursuing a legal career, Boyer graduated with a B.A. from the University of Nebraska in 1973, majoring in Political Science and minoring in History and English. He then went on to earn his Masters in Public Administration and his J.D. degree in 1977 from the Southern Methodist University.
After earning his law degree, Boyer worked as a prosecutor for the city of New Braunfels, Texas. He then served as the assistant county attorney and subsequently the assistant district attorney for the Comal County District Attorneys Office. Before taking the bench seat, Boyer was the mayor of New Braunfels from 2005 to 2011.
In addition to his services to the court, Boyer is a member of the Texas State Bar. In addition, he was a board member and past president of the City of New Braunfels 4B Board and the Comal County Chapter of the American Heart Association. He is also a former member of the Comal County Childrens Shelter, the New Braunfels Girls Softball Association, the New Braunfels Rotary Club, and the Comal County Senior Citizens Association, and the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce.
Boyer is a registered Republican.
