Judge Ricardo Córdova: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Ricardo Córdova is a judge for the Stanislaus County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Gray Davis in 2003. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Glenn A. Ritchey (Ret.).

Judge Córdova received his B.A. from Loyola Marymount University in 1976. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 1979.

He began his legal career as an attorney with the California Rural Legal Assistance in 1979. After practicing there for sixteen years, Córdova then joined the Stanislaus County Public Defender's Office in 1995. During his tenure there, he would rise to the level of chief deputy public defender and would remain in that position until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2003.

While on the bench, Judge Córdova served as a Presiding Judge of the Court. He also presided in the Criminal Department.

He was a member and past-president of the Modesto School Board.
