Biography

The Hon. Piper McCraw is a judge for the 469th District Court in Collin County, Texas. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Greg Abbott in 2015.

The 469th District Court is a specialized court that handles family law matters and child protective services cases.

Prior to her appointment, McCraw was an attorney at McCraw Gantt (formerly Piper McCraw), a law firm she joined in 2010.

McCraw earned a B.B.A. in management information systems from Southern Methodist University. She then completed a J.D. at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law.

She was admitted to the State Bar Texas of in 2006. She is Board Certified in Family Law (2018) and Child Welfare Law (2019) by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

After graduating from law school, McCraw served as an assistant district attorney for the Collin County District Attorney's Office. During her tenure there, she held assignments as chief of the misdemeanor court as well as a member of the felony trial team.

Her memberships have included the Collin County Women Lawyers Association and the Curt B. Henderson American Inn of Court. She has also been involved with the Board of Directors of the Collin County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Grievance Committee of the State Bar of Texas, and the Training Committee of the Texas Children's Commission.

She is registered as a Republican.
