The Hon. Paul T. Suzuki is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 2010 by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
He is a registered Democrat.
After attending the Los Angeles City College, where he earned his Associate of Arts degree, Judge Suzuki graduated with his B.A. in public service from the University of California, Los Angeles. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 1974.
Suzuki joined the Riverside County Legal Services as an attorney in 1974. After two years with the nonprofit organization, he became an attorney for the Legal Aid Foundation in Long Beach in 1976. He entered into private practice in 1978 until he opened the Law Offices of Suzuki and Ito in 1984 where he served as a partner. Judge Suzuki was elected court commissioner for the Los Angeles Superior Court in 2006 and remained in that capacity until his appointment to the bench in 2010.
Judge Suzuki is a native of Los Angeles. He is of Japanese descent, and his parent's internment in a Wyoming camp during W.W.II developed his views on the rule of law in regards to the fair and equal treatment of others despite their background.
He has been a member of the Asian Business Association.
