The Hon. Paul M. Haakenson is a judge for the Marin County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Vernon Smith (Ret.).
He is a registered Republican.
Judge Haakenson received his B.S. from the University of California, Davis in 1987. After working briefly as a research biologist, he decided to pursue his law degree. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1993.
After graduating from law school, Haakenson joined the Marin County District Attorney's Office in 1993. During his time as a deputy district attorney, Haakenson specialized in cases involving children, sexual assaults, and identity theft. He remained with the D.A.'s office until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2006.
During his tenure on the bench, Judge Haakenson has served as the Presiding Judge of the Court.
In his free time, Judge Haakenson enjoys playing golf and running.
