Judge Paul B. Wojtaszek - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Paul B. Wojtaszek is a justice for the Erie County Supreme Court in the Eighth Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the bench on November 4, 2014.

Wojtaszek earned a B.S. from the State University of New York at Brockport in 1987. He then completed a J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School in 1990.

He began his legal career as a law clerk in the Office of the United States Attorney of the Western District of New York in 1989. Two years later, Wojtaszek joined the Office of the District Attorney of Niagara County, where he served as an assistant district attorney and a narcotics bureau chief for the next five years. Then, in 1996, he performed a brief stint as a special assistant attorney general in the Medicaid Fraud Unit of the Office of the New York State Attorney General.

In 1997 Wojtaszek joined the New York State Supreme Court as a principal law clerk to the Hon. Russell P. Buscaglia. For part of his tenure there, he also served as a Niagara County Legislator, where he chaired the Public Works Committee and the Community Safety Committee from 2007 to 2014.

Wojtaszek has served on the board of trustees of the North Tonawanda Catholic School. He has also been a Little League baseball coach as well as a eucharistic minister and lector at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish.

He is registered as a Republican.
