Biography

The Hon. Paul A. Bacigalupo is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was elected to the bench in the March 2002 election. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of David Finkel.

Judge Bacigalupo received his B.S. from Santa Clara University in 1981. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1987.

After graduating from law school, Bacigalupo clerked for several judges at the Los Angeles U.S. Immigration Court. After leaving the Immigration Court, Bacigalupo would go on to become a founding attorney for the mediation and arbitration firm, Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services, also known as JAMS. He then entered into private practice for three years before joining the law firm of Castle and Lax, where he practiced for eleven years. In 2000 Bacigalupo was appointed to the State Bar Court for a two-year term where he served as a supervising judge. Prior to his election to the Superior Court, Judge Bacigalupo had also served as a volunteer judge pro tem for the Superior and Municipal courts.

In 2017 he received the Judge of the Year Award from the San Fernando Valley Bar Association.

In 2018 Judge Bacigalupo was elected president of the California Judges Association.
