Judge Patrick E. Sebesta - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Patrick E. Sebesta (Ret.) was a judge for the 239th District Court of Texas in Brazoria County. Sebesta was initially elected to the Brazoria County Court at Law No. 2 in 1998. He was subsequently elevated to the District Court after his election to the bench in 2002. Sebesta retired in 2022.

Over the course of his judicial career, Sebesta has presided over the STEP Drug Court and Recommit to Recovery Program. He has also served as the county's local administrative judge.

Sebesta earned a bachelor's degree in physical education teaching and coaching from Sam Houston State University in 1985. Then, in 1993, he completed an LL.B. at South Texas College of Law Houston.

After graduating from law school, Sebesta worked as an attorney in private practice as well as an assistant district attorney in the Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office.

His memberships have included the Brazoria County Juvenile Board, the Brazoria County Board of Criminal Judges, the American Probation and Parole Association, the Brazoria County Bar Association, the Texas Association of Court Professionals, and the Texas Bar Foundation. He has also sat on the Budget Committee of the Eleventh Administrative Judicial Region and the Texas Judicial Advisory Council.

He is registered as a Republican.
