The Hon. Patricia K. Asquith is an associate justice for the Rhode Island Family Court. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Lincoln Chafee in 2013.
Prior to her appointment, Asquith was a magistrate for the Rhode Island Family Court, a position to which she was selected in 2002. Before that, she spent time as a partner at Asquith, Mahoney & Robinson (1993 to 2002). During her tenure in private practice, Asquith specialized in family law, divorce mediation, and juvenile matters.
Asquith earned a bachelor’s degree from Bryant College in 1989. She then completed a J.D. at Suffolk University Law School in 1993. She is admitted to practice in Rhode Island (1993) and the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island (1994).
Her memberships have included the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, the National Association of Women Judges, the Rhode Island Trial Judges Association, the Rhode Island Bar Association, the Rhode Island Mediators Association, the St. Thomas More Society, and the Edward P. Gallogly Rhode Island Family Law Inn of Court.
Asquith sits on the Board of Directors of the East Providence Boys & Girls Club. She also volunteers with Newman Congregational Church’s Bread of Life Food Pantry, and she serves as the Senior Project Mentor for East Providence and North Providence High School.
