The Hon. Pamela M. Parker is a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego County in California. She was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown on August 29, 2013, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Luis R. Vargas.
Parker earned a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton. She then received a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1982.
She began her legal career as a law clerk for the Hon. Frank Battisti of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Then, in 1983, she started working as an associate, first at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton, and Garrison, then at Lankenau, Kovner, and Bickford, and finally at Robbins, Geller, Rudman, and Dowd. During her tenure as a litigating attorney, Parker helped represent fishermen and Native Alaskans in the Exxon Valdez oil spill trial.
Parker left the private sector in 2012. She joined the California Fourth District Court of Appeal as a senior appellate attorney. She held this position briefly, for she was quickly appointed to the Superior Court of San Diego County.
Parker has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego Law School as well as the Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
She has served as president of the Legal Aid Society of San Diego. She has also been named Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice.
Parker is registered as a Democrat.
Her husband, Michael Scott, is a marine biologist.
