Biography

The Hon. Nicole C. Bershon is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench in 2013 by former governor Jerry Brown.

She is registered decline-to-state.

Judge Bershon received her B.A. from Princeton University. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 1992. While in law school, Bershon co-founded the UCLA Women's Law Journal.

After graduating from law school, Bershon joined the law firm of Sutman, Treister, and Glatt where she practiced as an associate for two years. In 1994 she joined the law firm of Irell and Manell as an associate. She joined the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office in 1995 as a deputy city attorney. She left the City Attorney's office in 2002 to join the Los Angeles Police Commission's Inspector General's Office. During her nine years with the I.G.'s office, Bershon served as an assistant inspector general and was named the inspector general in 2010.

She resigned from her position as the inspector general to become a court commissioner for the Los Angeles Superior Court in 2011. She remained in that position until her appointment to the bench in 2013.

During her time on the Superior Court, Judge Bershon served as site judge for the Inglewood Courthouse.

She enjoys playing softball.
