The Hon. Nathan R. Scott is a judge for the Superior Court of Orange County in California. He was appointed by former governor Jerry Brown on November 21, 2012, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Michael J. Naughton.

Scott earned a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1995. He then received a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1999.

Scott began his legal career as an associate at Kirkland and Ellis in 1999. Four years later, he moved to Cox, Castle, and Nicholson, where he worked as an associate until 2004. Then, in 2005, he joined the State of California Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, serving as a senior appellate court attorney until his appointment to the bench.

Scott has been a member of the Hispanic Bar Association of Orange County, the California Latino Judges Association, and the Association of Business Trial Lawyers.

He has served as President of the Warren J. Ferguson American Inn of Court from 2008 to 2018. He has also chaired the Appellate Law Section of the Orange County Bar Association from 2005 to 2012.

Scott was a recipient of the President's Award from the Warren J. Ferguson American Inn of Court in 2011. He also received the Lifetime Service Award from the Orange County Bar Association Appellate Law Section in 2014.

Scott was a resident of Long Beach, California at the time of his appointment to the bench.

He is registered as a Democrat.
