The Hon. N. Hunter Davis is a judge for the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Broward County. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Scott on August 17, 2018, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Merrilee Ehrlich.
Prior to his appointment, Davis was an assistant statewide prosecutor with the Florida Office of the Attorney General, a position to which he was named in 2014. He specialized in narcotics trafficking, synthetic drug manufacturing, prescription drug diversion, money laundering, and public corruption offenses.
Davis earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2004. He then completed a J.D. at Washington and Lee University School of Law (2008) and an LL.M. in ocean and coastal law at the University of Miami School of Law (2018).
He is admitted to practice in Florida (2008), Virginia (2009), and South Carolina (2014).
After graduating from law school, Davis began his legal career as an associate at Rajtar & Associates. He spent the next year handling commercial litigation and real estate litigation matters before joining the Office of the State Attorney for the Twentieth Judicial Circuit. Then, in 2010, he transferred to the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, where he held assignments in the Felony Trial Unit and the Public Corruption & Special Prosecutions Unit.
Born and raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Davis was a resident of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the time of his appointment. His wife, Rebecca, is a graduate of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and a civil litigation attorney.
