Biography

The Hon. Mitzy R. Galis-Menendez is a judge for the Hudson County Superior Court (Vicinage 6) in New Jersey. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Chris Christie in 2013.


Galis-Menendez has held assignments in the Civil Division (2017 to 2018) and the Criminal Division (2013 to 2017). She currently sits as the Presiding Judge for the Criminal Division, a position she has held since 2018.


Prior to her appointment, Galis-Menendez was a partner at Chasan Leyner & Lamparello, a law firm based in Hudson County.


Galis-Menendez earned a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University in 1994. She then completed a J.D. at Seton Hall Law School in 1998. She is admitted to practice in New Jersey, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
