The Hon. Mildred Escobedo is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was elected to the bench in the November 2004 election. She filled the vacancy caused by the retirement of the Hon. Marcus O. Tucker, Jr. (Ret.).
Judge Escobedo graduated with her A.A. from East Los Angeles College. She received her B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1985. She began her legal studies at the University of San Francisco Law School and continued them Whittier Law School, where she graduated with her J.D. in 1989.
While in law school, Escobedo began a clerkship with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office as a part of the Certified Law Clerk Program. After she graduated from Whittier, Escobedo began her legal career in private practice. Her practice sought to help people in lower-income communities. During her time as a sole practitioner, she litigated workers compensation, personal injury, family law, and discrimination cases.
In 1998 she became a part-time court referee while still maintaining her role as a sole practitioner. In 2002 she accepted a full-time court referee position at the Eastlake Juvenile Court. She remained in that position until being elected to the Superior Court in 2004.
