The Hon. Mike Engelhart is a judge of the One Hundred Fifty-First District Court in Harris County, Texas. He is also a certified mediator. Engelbart is on the ballot in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Engelhart received his undergraduate degree in political science from University of Michigan. He moved to Houston in 1992 to get his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center.
He was in private practice at Engelhart & Greenwood, specializing in plaintiffs personal injury and commercial litigation.
Engelhart is on the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists (TACTAS); the Board of Directors of Greater Houston Kosher Chili Cookoff, Inc.; and a Fellow of the College of the State Bar of Texas. He is a frequent CLE speaker. In 2016 he won the University of Houston Law Center Alumni Association Public Sector Achievement Award and the Trial Judge of the Year from TACTAS. In 2017, Engelhart was awarded the Franklin Jones Best CLE Article prize by the College of the State Bar of Texas. In 2019, he received the Presidents Award from the Houston Bar Association for being co-chair of the 2019 Civil/Appellate Bench Bar Conference.
Engelhart speaks Spanish fluently. He lives in Bellaire with his wife and two children.
He is a Democrat.
