Michele Kern-Rappy is a senior settlement coordinator and senior mediator for the New York County Superior Court in the First Judicial District of New York. She has worked with the court since 1988.
During her tenure there, Kern-Rappy has acted as a senior settlement coordinator and senior mediator for the Med-NJ (Mediation Non-Jury) Program, which she also designed and implemented in the New York County Supreme Court. The program handles cases involving employment law, commercial disputes, landlord/tenant, construction, labor law, matrimonial, premises liability, and personal injury.
Kern-Rappy received a bachelor's degree from Baruch College. She went on to complete a J.D. at St. John’s University School of Law in 1988.
Her memberships have included Chief Judge DiFiore’s ADR Advisory Task Force, the Dispute Resolution Section of the New York State Bar Association (co-chair of the Advocacy Subcommittee), the ADR Section of the New York Women’s Bar Association (co-chair), and Administrative Judge Deborah Kaplan’s Tort Advisory Committee.
In addition, Kern-Rappy is an Interdisciplinary Collaborative Attorney and sits on the Board of Directors of the Family and Divorce Mediation Council. She also holds a membership with the Interdisciplinary Forum, the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
Kern-Rappy is a certified Yoga teacher.
