Biography

Hon. Michele A. Varricchio is a judge for the Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. She was elected to the bench on November 6, 2007.

While on the Court of Common Pleas, Varricchio has held an assignment in the Civil Division.

She began her judicial career as a judge for the Lehigh County Magisterial District Court (District 31-1-03), a position to which she was appointed by former Governor Bob Casey, Sr. in 1992. She remained on its bench until her election to the Court of Common Pleas in 2007.

Varricchio received a B.A. from St. John’s College in 1981. She went on to earn a J.D. at Antioch School of Law in 1985.

Prior to joining the judiciary, her legal career included working as a partner at Rooney & Varricchio (1987 to 1991), a solicitor for the Lehigh County Domestic Relations (1988 to 1992), and a law clerk to the Hon. James N. Diefenderfer with the Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas (1985 to 1987).

Varricchio has held memberships with the Special Court Judges Association and the National Association of Women Judges.

Her civic involvement included the Allentown YMCA (past president and treasurer), the Allentown Rotary Club, and the Lehigh Valley Arts Council. Varricchio was also a member of the board for 4H, Bikeworks, Human Services Advisory Board, and the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival at DeSales University.

She graduated from William Allen High School.

Varricchio is registered as a Democrat.
