Biography

The Hon. Michael S. Williams is a judge for the 13th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Hillsborough County. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Scott on November 27, 2017, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Daniel L. Perry.

Prior to his appointment, Williams sat as a judge for the Hillsborough County Court, a position to which he was named in 2016. Before that, he spent several years as special counsel to the Office of Statewide Prosecution for the Florida Office of the Attorney General (2006 to 2016).

Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Moravian College in 1994. He then completed a J.D. at Villanova University, Charles Widger School of Law in 1997.

After graduating from law school, Williams began his legal career as an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit. He served in that capacity until 2000, at which time he entered into private practice as an associate at Rubin, Fortunato & Harbison in Paoli, Pennsylvania. Then, in 2002, Williams returned to Florida, working as an associate at McLean & Cardillo in Tampa.

He was a resident of Valrico, Florida, at the time of his appointment.
