Biography

Hon. Michael T. Garrett is a judge for the Clayton County State Court in Georgia. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Nathan Deal in 2012 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Harold G. Benefield (Ret.).

Prior to his appointment, Garrett had worked as assistant district attorney with the South Georgia Judicial Circuit since 2009.

Before that, he was a senior assistant district attorney with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office (2008 to 2009) and an assistant district attorney with the South Georgia District Attorney’s Office (2005 to 2008).

Garrett received a bachelor’s degree in business from Auburn University in 1993. He went on to complete a J.D. from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law. He was admitted to practice in Georgia in 2002.

At the time of his appointment, Garrett resided in Forest Park, Georgia.
