The Hon. Michael P. Gomez is a judge of the One Hundred Twenty-Ninth District Court in Harris County, Texas. He first took office on January 1, 2009, and his current term expires on December 31, 2020.
Gomez is a graduate of Rice University and the University of Houston Law Center, where he served as an articles editor for the Houston Law Review.
Before sitting as a judge, Gomez handled corporate and securities matters as well as commercial and insurance defense litigation. He worked as a pro bono legal advisor for many non-profit organizations.
Gomez is a past president of the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston and a fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation, Texas Bar Foundation, and American Bar Foundation. In 2016, he received the Hispanic Bar Association's "Judge of the Year" award. Gomez is a frequent continuing legal education speaker and a speaker at public schools regarding the importance of higher education and careers in the legal profession.
Gomez grew up in Houston. He is married to Diana Perez Gomez, who is a partner with Chamberlain Hrdlicka, where she specializes in labor and employment matters. They have two children.
