The Hon. Michael K. Wendler is a judge for the San Mateo County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Gavin Newsom on April 28, 2020, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Marta S. Diaz.
Wendler earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Davis in 1998. As an undergraduate student, Wendler enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Then, in 2007, Wendler completed a J.D. at Loyola Law School. After graduating from law school, he began his legal career as a deputy district attorney in the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office. He served in that capacity until his appointment to the bench.
He is registered as a Democrat.
