The Hon. Michael J. Jurkovich is a judge for the Superior Court of Madera County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown on November 29, 2012, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Eric C. Wyatt.
Jurkovich earned a B.A. from California State University, Fresno. At this time, he pursued a career in law enforcement, first serving as a correctional officer with the Sheriff’s Department of Fresno County from 1978 to 1981. He then became a police officer for the City of Madera Police Department, a position he held until he completed his J.D. from San Joaquin College of Law in 1990.
He began his legal career as an associate at Kimble, MacMichael and Upton. He practiced with the firm for eleven years, eventually achieving shareholder status. Then, in 2011, he left the firm and joined Gilmore, Wood, Vinnard and Magness as an associate.
Jurkovich is registered as a Republican.
