The Hon. Michael F. Murray is a judge for the Superior Court of Orange County in California. He was elected to the bench on June 7, 2016.
Murray attended the United States Military Academy, West Point, where he earned a B.S. in engineering in 1986. He then received a J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1994.
Murray began his legal career in the Office of the United States Attorney in 1991. He worked as chief law clerk for the Misdemeanor Trial Unit until 1994, when he joined the Office of the District Attorney of Sacramento County as a deputy district attorney. One year later he moved to the Office of the District Attorney of Orange County, eventually becoming a senior deputy district attorney in 1999. While working in the Office of the District Attorney, he was assigned to the Gang Unit and the Homicide Unit.
Murray resigned as Captain from the United States Army. He is a veteran of the Gulf War, having served in Operation Desert Storm.
His wife is an FBI Special Agent based in Santa Ana, California.
