The Hon. Maurice R. Flynn, III (Ret.) served as an associate justice of the Somerville District Court in Massachusetts. Flynn was appointed to the bench by former Governor Bill Weld in 1993. He retired in 2020.
Over the course of his judicial career, Flynn held assignments as an associate justice of the Malden District Court from 1993 to 2004.
Flynn earned a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College in 1972. He then completed a J.D. at Boston College Law School in 1975.
After graduating from law school, Flynn began his legal career as an assistant district attorney for the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office. He served in that capacity until 1979, at which time he became an Assistant United States Attorney for the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts. Then, in 1985, Flynn entered into private practice in Boston, where he worked until his appointment to the bench.
Flynn was born in Malden, Massachusetts. He is a veteran of the Massachusetts Army National Guard (1970 to 1976).
