The Hon. Maryann D’Addezio Kotler is a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego County in California. She was appointed by former governor Jerry Brown on December 24, 2016, filling a vacancy created by the conversion of a court commissioner position.
Kotler earned a B.A. from St. Bonaventure University in 1982. She then received a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1991.
Kotler began her legal career as a deputy public defender for the Office of the Public Defender of Los Angeles County. Then, in 1992, she moved to the Office of the Public Defender of San Diego County. During her tenure there, she was assigned to the Central Misdemeanor Unit, the Vista Misdemeanor Unit, the Downtown Felony Unit, and the Juvenile Delinquency Unit.
Her memberships have included the Lawyers Club as well as the San Diego County Bar Association.
Kotler is registered as a Democrat.
