The Hon. Mary Alice Brennan is a judge for the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. She was elected to the bench in 2007 and subsequently retained in 2017.
Before joining the bench, Brennan was appointed to the Delaware County Council in 2002. Her responsibilities included the Board of Elections, the Voter Registration Commission, the Recorder of Deeds, as well as the Courthouse and Park Police, Parks and Recreation, Human Services, and the Women’s Commission.
Prior to her election, Brennan worked as an attorney in private practice (1991 to 2002). Before that, she served as an Assistant Public Defender for the Delaware County Public Defender’s Office (1987 to 1991) as well as a justice for the Magisterial District Court in Upper Darby Township (1994 to 2002).
Brennan earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in 1981. She then completed a J.D. at Widener University Delaware Law School in 1986.
Her memberships have included the Intergovernmental Task Force to Study the District Justice System, the Upper Darby School Board, and the Delaware County Retirement Board. She has also served as a liaison between the County Council and the Community Action Committee.
A lifelong resident of Delaware County, Brennan attended St. Madeline School and Interboro High School. She resides in Drexel Hill with her husband, an Upper Darby Police Officer.
She is registered as a Republican.
