The Hon. Mark V. Mooney is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was originally appointed to the Los Angeles Municipal Court in April of 1995 by former governor Pete Wilson. He filled the vacancy created by the appointment of the Hon. Richard Paez to the Federal Court. Judge Mooney was ultimately elevated to the Superior Court in 1998.

Mooney received his B.A. from the University of Southern California in 1978. He went on to earn his J.D. from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1981.

He began his legal career practicing as an associate for the law firms of Lafollette, Johnson, DeHass and Fesler and Hillsinger and Costanzo. Prior to his appointment to the Municipal Court, Mooney had been an assistant U.S. attorney for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California starting in 1991.

Judge Mooney wrote an article on the subject of establishing and proving causation in personal injury cases that appeared in the April 2016 edition of Plaintiff Magazine.
