The Hon. Mark R. Nareau is a judge for the Lassen County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2017. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Michele Verderosa (Ret.).
He is registered without party preference.
Judge Nareau received his LL.B. from Western State University College of Law. He would also earn his J.D. from the Western State University College of Law.
Nareau's legal career involved several stints in both the private and public sectors. He began his legal career as a sole practitioner in 1981. Three years later, he left private practice for his first stint in the public arena.
He became a deputy district attorney with the Lassen County District Attorney's Office in 1984. He also served as a special prosecutor for the Lassen County Prison Prosecution Program beginning in 1987 after serving his second stint as a sole practitioner.
He returned to private practice briefly again in 1988, before returning to the Lassen County D.A.'s Office in 1991 to serve as the district attorney. A year later, Nareau re-entered solo practice, where he would remain until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2017.
During his time on the bench, Judge Nareau has served as the Assistant Presiding Judge of the Court.
