Judge Mark K. Chase - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Mark K. Chase is a judge for the Vicinage 4 Superior Court in Camden County in New Jersey. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Chris Christie in 2017.

While on the bench, Chase has held assignments in the Family Division (2017 to 2019), Criminal Division (2019 to 2021), and Civil Division (2021 to present) in Camden County.

At the time of his appointment, he was an attorney in the Cherry Hill office of Liebling Malamut, where he had practiced since 2016.

Before joining the firm, Chase had worked as a first assistant prosecutor with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. He joined the Prosecutor’s Office in 2000 after a brief stint in private practice (1999 to 2000). While there, Chase became an authority on the use of force by police and is credited with authoring several policies for the Prosecutor’s Office, including a policy for the use of Narcan, a medicine used to treat suspected opioid overdoses.

He received a B.A. in history from Connecticut College in 1991. Chase went on to complete a J.D. at Widener University, Delaware Law School in 1995.

While in college, he lettered for four years on the men’s ice hockey team. Chase was a forward for the Camels, and his career included two ECAC Semifinal appearances (1987-1988 and 1988-1989) and winning the 1989-1990 ECAC South Championship, which served as the only conference title in the program's history.
