The Hon. Mark A. Borenstein is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in March of 2009 by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Coleman Swart (Ret.)

He is a registered Democrat.

Judge Borenstein received his B.A. from the University of Buffalo in 1973. He went on to earn his J.D. from George Washington University in 1976. In 1978 he graduated with his LL.M from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C.

After graduating from law school, Borenstein clerked for the Hon. Irving Hill (Ret.), former Federal Judge with the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California from 1976 to 1977. Borenstein then joined the Los Angeles law firm Tuttle and Taylor as an associate in 1978. He remained with the firm for 22 years and was eventually named a partner. In 2000 he joined Shapiro, Borenstein, and Dupont as a partner. The following year he left to co-found the law firm Overland and Borenstein, which would later become Overland, Borenstein, Schaper, and Kim in 2004. He continued on with the firm, where he practiced complex litigation, until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2009.

During his time on the Superior Court, Judge Borenstein presided over the Edelman Children's Court.

He has also served as an adjunct professor for the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law, where he taught civil procedure. He also served as a panelist for Whittier Law School.
