The Hon. Marie S. Weiner is a judge for the Superior Court of San Mateo County in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Gray Davis in May 2002, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Linda Gemello (Ret.) to the California First District Court of Appeal.
Weiner earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco. She then completed a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1983.
Prior to her appointment to the bench, Weiner was a partner at Cotchett, Pitre, Simon & McCarthy, the firm that represented the debt securities investors suing Enron Corp. She entered the firm as an associate, eventually becoming a partner in 1991. During her tenure there, she handled complex business litigation cases.
She has served as Secretary and Treasurer of the California Judges Association as well as President of the San Mateo County Bar Association. She has also served as a member of the State Bar Board of Governors.
When not presiding over cases, Weiner sings with her church choir.
