The Hon. Maria Puente-Porras is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench in 2018 by former governor Jerry Brown. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. William P. Barry (Ret.).
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Puente-Porras received her bachelor's degree from Cerritos College. She went on to earn her J.D. from Western State University College of Law.
Prior to her appointment to the bench, Puente-Porras was elected to serve as a court commissioner for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in 2015. Before joining the court, she was a sole practitioner from 1998 to 2015, and of counsel at the Law Offices of James M. Hodges from 1999 to 2005. Her areas of practice focused on family law and criminal defense.
She was the past-president of the Southeast District Bar Association.
