The Hon. Maria Andrea Davalos is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown in June of 2016. She filled the vacancy created by the Hon. John L. Segal's elevation to the Court of Appeal.
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Davalos received her B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles. She went on to earn her J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles.
Davalos joined the Long Beach City Prosecutor's Office in 2000 as a deputy city prosecutor. In 2006 she joined the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office as a deputy district attorney. She remained with the D.A.'s office until her appointment to the Superior Court in 2016.
Judge Davalos has served as a panelist for her alma mater, Loyola Law School, at their 2016 Judicial Appointment Process event. In 2017 she was a presenter for the Paramount Unified School District's Young Women's Empowerment Conference.
