Biography

The Hon. Margo Lewis Hoy is a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego County in California. She was appointed to the bench by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2010, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. John L. Davidson.

Hoy earned a B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1989. She then received a J.D. from California Western School of Law in 1992.

Hoy began her legal career as a partner at Galam, Hurt, Lewis & Pope in 1993. She continued to serve as a partner through its transition into Galam, Lewis & Pope. Then, in 1995, she left the firm, starting her own private practice as a sole practitioner.

Prior to her appointment to the bench, Hoy served as partner, first at Lewis and Schulman from 1997 to 2000, then at Moore, Lewis, Schulman & Moore from 2000 to 2010.

She is registered as a Republican.
