Judge Margaret J. Amoroso: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Margaret J. Amoroso is a judge for the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. She was elected to the bench on November 3, 2015.

Prior to her election, Amoroso was a senior associate and managing attorney at Willig, Williams & Davidson. As a general practitioner, she counseled and represented clients in real estate, domestic relations, consumer law, and criminal defense matters.

Before that, she served as an assistant county solicitor for the Office of the Delaware County Solicitor. In that capacity, she handled neglect and abuse cases for Children & Youth Services as well as Department of Public Welfare appeals.

Amoroso earned a B.A. in history from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1979. She then completed a J.D. at Penn State Dickinson Law in 1982.

Her memberships have included the Delaware County Bar Association, the Philadelphia Bar Association, and the Pennsylvania Children & Youth Solicitors Association. She also sat on the Delaware County Women’s Commission, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Disciplinary Board, and the Neumann College Continuing Education Advisory Board.

Amoroso is a life-long resident of Delaware County. She served on the Township Council of Middletown Township (2012 to 2015) as well as the Middletown Township Zoning Hearing Board (2005 to 2012).
